Ingredients
Scale
Egg Mixture
- 5 large eggs
- ½ medium red bell pepper, chopped
- ½ medium green bell pepper, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Bacon and Cheese
- 8 slices bacon, fried
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Dough and Finishing
- 8 ounce crescent rolls (refrigerated, 1 can)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ to prepare for baking the breakfast ring.
- Cook Bacon and Prepare Eggs: Fry the bacon until crispy and set aside, draining excess fat. In the same skillet (after draining fat), scramble the eggs with chopped red and green bell peppers, salt, and pepper just until softly set.
- Assemble Crescent Ring: Lay out the crescent rolls on parchment paper in a star shape. Place a slice of bacon on each crescent segment, sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese around the ring, then add the scrambled eggs evenly over the cheese. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
- Fold Crescents and Apply Egg Wash: Fold each crescent over the filling to enclose it, forming a ring. Optionally, brush the ring with a beaten egg to achieve a golden brown finish.
- Bake the Ring: Transfer the parchment paper with the ring onto a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown and fully cooked.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove from the oven and garnish with parsley if desired. Serve the breakfast ring warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Keep the crescent dough cold until assembling to make shaping easier.
- Fully cook bacon and vegetables before assembling to prevent soggy dough.
- Scramble eggs just until softly set to avoid overcooking; they will finish cooking in the oven.
- You can customize fillings by substituting cheeses or adding cooked veggies or meats, but avoid overloading to ensure even baking.
- Assemble the ring ahead of time, cover tightly, and refrigerate overnight for a convenient make-ahead breakfast.
- Serve warm so the crescent dough stays flaky and the cheese is melty.
