Description

Candy Cane Hearts with Chocolate are a festive and easy-to-make holiday treat that combines the minty crunch of candy canes with rich melted chocolate. Perfect for gifting or decorating during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale

Candy Cane Hearts

  • 28 mini candy canes
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Topping

  • 1-2 tablespoons your favorite toppings, crushed candy canes, festive sprinkles, mini white chocolate chips, etc.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a medium baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper. Clear some room in the refrigerator for this sheet and set it aside.
  2. Form heart shapes: Lay two unwrapped mini candy canes on the prepared sheet, flat and facing each other so they form a heart shape. Make sure the candy canes are touching and as close together as possible while laying flat.
  3. Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a medium, microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 10-second increments, stirring between each, until the chocolate is just softened and smooth. Be careful not to overheat as the chocolate will continue melting after removal.
  4. Pipe the chocolate: Spoon the melted chocolate into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a tiny tip trimmed off. Carefully pipe the melted chocolate into the center of each candy cane heart. If needed, gently press the candy canes together to secure the shape.
  5. Chill to set: Place the baking sheet with the candy cane hearts in the refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes until firm.

Notes

  • Store candy cane hearts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-3 weeks.
  • For longer storage, freeze in an airtight, freezer-friendly container for 1-2 months.
  • You can customize the toppings with crushed candy canes, festive sprinkles, or mini white chocolate chips for added texture and decoration.
  • Use a piping bag or a small zip-top bag for precise chocolate application to keep the shape clean.
