Description

This Pull-Apart Cheesy Garlic Christmas Tree Bread is a festive, fun, and easy-to-make appetizer that features buttery, garlic-infused biscuit dough filled with gooey mozzarella. Perfect as a crowd-pleasing holiday snack or appetizer, it’s baked to golden perfection and served with tasty dipping sauces like marinara or pesto.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 16 oz can jumbo biscuits (each biscuit cut into fourths)
  • 7-8 mozzarella cheese sticks (cut into 31 pieces)

For Butter Garlic Topping

  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

For Egg Wash and Garnish

  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough and Cheese: Cut each jumbo biscuit into fourths so you have 32 pieces, but use only 31 of these pieces. Cut the mozzarella sticks into 31 pieces to match.
  3. Assemble Cheese Balls: Place a small piece of mozzarella on each dough square, then seal the edges tightly by rolling into smooth balls with your hands.
  4. Arrange Dough Balls: Place the cheese-filled dough balls on the prepared baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree with seams facing downward, ensuring the balls touch slightly for a pull-apart effect. Brush the dough balls gently with the beaten egg to create a golden crust.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 17 minutes or until the bread is golden brown. Watch carefully and cover with foil if browning too fast.
  6. Make Garlic Butter: While baking, melt the butter and stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Once out of the oven, brush the garlic butter evenly over the warm bread and sprinkle with optional Parmesan cheese if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with marinara or pesto sauce for dipping, making it perfect for sharing.

Notes

  • You can prepare the unbaked Christmas tree a day in advance. Keep it covered in the refrigerator and bake when ready.
  • Serve with marinara sauce, pesto, or toothpicks for easy dipping at parties or gatherings.
  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave or air fryer before serving.
  • Keep leftover garlic butter in a small lidded container to use later on baked potatoes, garlic bread, or other recipes.
