Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 10 ounces Dots candy
- 1 10-ounce bag mini marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 ¾ cups white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper and set it aside to ensure the candy does not stick and is easy to remove once set.
- Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, stopping every 30 seconds to stir to prevent overheating and to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency. Set aside once melted.
- Melt Marshmallows and Butter: In a medium mixing bowl, add the mini marshmallows and unsalted butter. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until the marshmallows puff up and rise to the top of the bowl. Remove from microwave and stir thoroughly until the butter is completely melted and combined with the marshmallows into a smooth mixture.
- Combine Chocolate and Marshmallow Mixture: Quickly add the melted white chocolate to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir promptly and thoroughly but gently to incorporate the two mixtures.
- Add Dots Candy: Add all but ⅓ cup of the Dots candy into the combined mixture. Stir well to evenly distribute the gumdrops throughout the nougat base.
- Transfer to Pan: Immediately pour the candy mixture into the prepared parchment-lined pan. Spray your hands lightly with cooking spray and spread the mixture evenly in the pan to create a uniform layer.
- Decorate and Set: Press the remaining ⅓ cup of Dots candy on top of the nougat, filling in any gaps and adding vibrant color. Allow the candy to cool and set completely, which takes about 4 hours at room temperature.
Notes
- Spraying your hands with cooking spray prevents the sticky nougat mixture from adhering while spreading.
- You can substitute white chocolate chips with vanilla-flavored candy melts if preferred.
- For a firmer nougat, refrigerate the pan after spreading the mixture.
- Use an 8×8 inch pan for a thickness suitable for cutting into 12 servings.
- Storage: Store the candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
