Description

This festive Christmas Monkey Bread is a delightful pull-apart treat made with refrigerated biscuit dough, filled with colorful sprinkles and Hershey Kisses, coated in cinnamon sugar, and baked with a rich buttery brown sugar sauce. Perfect for holiday breakfasts or dessert, it’s easy to prepare and sure to bring holiday cheer.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Fillings

  • 2 packages refrigerated biscuit dough, such as Pillsbury Grands
  • Christmas sprinkles, 1/4 cup or as needed
  • Hershey Kisses, unwrapped (any flavor), 24 pieces

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Sauce

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a bundt pan generously with non-stick spray and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare dough balls: Cut each biscuit into quarters using a pizza slicer or knife. Slightly flatten each quarter, place a few Christmas sprinkles and one Hershey Kiss in the center, then roll into a ball sealing the filling inside. Repeat with all biscuit pieces.
  3. Coat dough balls: In a large resealable zipper bag, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Add a few dough balls at a time to the bag, seal it, and shake until all are evenly coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Remove coated balls from the bag and place them into the prepared bundt pan.
  4. Prepare and pour sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and brown sugar together, stirring occasionally until smooth and fully combined. Pour the warm sauce evenly over the coated dough balls in the bundt pan.
  5. Bake monkey bread: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until the top is a deep golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then place a serving plate over the bundt pan and carefully invert to release the bread onto the plate. Sprinkle additional Christmas sprinkles on top for garnish. Serve warm and enjoy the festive treat!

Notes

  • Using a pizza slicer makes cutting biscuit quarters quick and uniform.
  • Make sure to seal the dough balls tightly around the Hershey Kisses to prevent leakage during baking.
  • To ensure even coating, shake dough balls in small batches in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • For extra flavor, try varying the Hershey Kiss flavors or adding chopped nuts.
  • Allow the monkey bread to cool slightly before inverting to avoid burns and help the bread keep its shape.
