Description

Reindeer Food is a festive and delightful holiday snack mix made with crunchy Chex cereal coated in a luscious blend of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and vanilla, then dusted with powdered sugar and mixed with mini peanut butter cups and colorful M&M’s. This easy no-bake treat is perfect for holiday parties or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Mix

  • 8 cups corn or rice Chex cereal

Chocolate Coating

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating and Mix-Ins

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup mini peanut butter cups
  • 1 ½ cups red and green M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Heat Chocolate Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips. Heat over low heat, stirring frequently until the chocolate chips are completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  2. Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined with the melted chocolate mixture.
  3. Prepare Cereal: Place the Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Coat Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal. Stir gently until all cereal pieces are evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
  5. Dust with Powdered Sugar: Add the powdered sugar to the chocolate-coated cereal and stir until the mix is completely coated and no longer sticky.
  6. Add Mix-Ins: Carefully fold in the mini peanut butter cups and red and green M&M’s until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Notes

  • You can substitute almond butter for peanut butter for those with peanut allergies.
  • A double boiler can be used instead of a saucepan to melt the chocolate chips smoothly.
  • Store the Reindeer Food in an airtight container or resealable bag at room temperature for up to 1 week to maintain freshness.
  • For longer storage, freeze the mixture in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 2 months.
