Description

Million Dollar Chicken is a delicious baked chicken recipe featuring tender chicken breasts topped with a creamy, cheesy mixture loaded with crispy bacon and crunchy almonds. This flavorful dish pairs wonderfully with rice, pasta, or vegetables for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 3 pounds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Topping Mixture

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions, divided
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, divided

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Preheat: Prepare a 9x13x2 inch baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to get it ready for baking.
  2. Cook and Chop Bacon: Cook the bacon until crispy in a skillet over medium heat. Once cooked, chop it into small pieces and set aside to cool.
  3. Prepare Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts with a meat tenderizer until they are an even ½ inch thick. Season all sides of the chicken evenly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Make Topping Mixture: In a bowl, combine the chopped bacon, softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, 2 tablespoons of sliced green onions, and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds. Mix until well blended.
  5. Assemble: Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the prepared baking dish. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture on top of each chicken breast, covering them completely.
  6. Bake: Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the baked chicken with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sliced green onions and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure chicken breasts are pounded evenly to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream for the best creamy texture.
  • Bacon can be baked in the oven on a foil-lined sheet pan for easier cleanup.
  • If you prefer less sodium, reduce the added salt or use low-sodium bacon.
  • Serve with your favorite side such as rice, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
  • Make sure the internal temperature of chicken reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
