  • 5 ounces chopped white chocolate (about ¾ cup)


Instructions

  1. Prepare pan and candy canes: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and unwrap and crush the candy canes, setting aside some for later use.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Reduce heat to low and add most of the marshmallows, reserving 1 cup for later. Stir continuously until completely melted and combined.
  3. Mix in flavor and cereal: Remove from heat, stir in peppermint extract, Rice Krispies cereal, 2 tablespoons of the crushed candy canes, and the reserved marshmallows until evenly combined.
  4. Press into pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press gently into an even layer without compacting, using the butter wrapper, buttered hands, or a spatula to help.
  5. Melt chocolates: Carefully melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate in separate bowls by microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  6. Decorate treats: Drizzle both melted chocolates over the Rice Krispies treats, then gently shake the pan to smooth the top layer. Sprinkle the remaining crushed candy cane pieces over the chocolate.
  7. Set and serve: Allow the treats to set completely at room temperature before slicing into squares and serving.
