Description

A flavorful and easy Taco Spaghetti recipe combining the zest of taco seasoning with classic spaghetti, ground beef, and cheese for a one-pot Tex-Mex inspired meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup yellow onions, chopped
  • ¼ cup taco seasoning or 1 packet
  • 10 oz. can Rotel tomatoes with juice
  • 8 oz. spaghetti noodles, uncooked
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat Oil and Brown Meat: Heat olive oil in a 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onions, cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are soft and translucent.
  2. Add Seasoning and Ingredients: Stir in the taco seasoning, Rotel tomatoes with the juice, uncooked spaghetti noodles, and water to the skillet.
  3. Simmer: Bring mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the skillet, and let simmer for 15 minutes until the spaghetti is cooked through.
  4. Add Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the spaghetti and stir gently to distribute the cheese evenly throughout.
  5. Finish and Garnish: Top the spaghetti with the remaining cheese and chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • Add favorite taco toppings like fresh tomatoes, black olives, and onions as garnish or mix-ins for extra flavor.
  • For a baked version, transfer mixture to a casserole dish, bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, then broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese is browned.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for best taste.
  • Cook spaghetti al dente during simmer to avoid mushy noodles.
  • Ensure ground beef is well-browned to deepen flavor.
  • One-pot recipe simplifies cleanup and enhances flavor blending.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning before serving if needed.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro or a dollop of sour cream for freshness.
